GELC News - February 2010
Members of the GELC enjoyed a very interesting and informative program during our luncheon in February. Betty Davis and Lisa Guandial of the Big Bend Ghost Trackers gave insight to ghost tracking and entertained us with many stories including the fact that Monticello is one of the spookiest towns in Florida. They also demonstrated various types of equipment and displayed some fascinating pictures from their ghost tracking collection.
Among our many door prize winners were: Alice Klimczak, Roz Pfeffer, Barbara Larson, Linda Essary, Sandy Peterson, and Karen Torgeson. Prizes included scented candles, chocolates, and week-long memberships at Premier Health Club. Thanks to Barbara Wallis for donating the Premier memberships! Pam Ridley won the book donated by our guest speakers. Trudy Avirom won $28 in the 50/50 drawing.
March 12 the Activities/Field trip will go to Mission San Luis in Tallahassee and March 26 they will visit the Sweet Grass Dairy in Thomasville, a Mennonite Bakery, and have lunch at Mitchell-Young-Anderson House B & B. Call Barbara Ceurvorst at 668-9049 for information on these outings.
Friday, March 19 our next luncheon will feature “Art in the Neighborhood” and, Ladies, you definitely won’t want to miss this meeting! Our talented neighborhood artists will display their wonderful works and our special guest, Mr. James Howarth, will sing some inspirational songs, too!
Here's a brief reminder how our ladies club dues are used: postage, photocopies, door prizes, and some contributions to women’s causes. The $20 annual dues keeps one informed of GELC meetings and enables a member to participate in interest groups such as: Activities/Field trips, Book Club, and Bunco.
Spring is in the air; enjoy the warm weather and the beautiful flowers! RSVP for the next luncheon by calling Michelle or Kathy at 893-7700 by March 17 and we’ll see you March 19! Social time begins at 11:00 a.m. and the program starts at 11:30 a.m.
